Artist in Residence

Our Artist In Residence program brings a visiting artist to our school every other year. Over the course of a month, all students have the opportunity to work with a professional artist to expand their arts and humanities exposure and learn in an interactive way from a primary source.

Past residencies include A Celebration of China with Mei Kuei Chan Cruise; Mining A Wealth of History - Storytelling with Jim Cogan; and A Taste of Mexico with Oliverio Balcells. Other subjects have included Tai Ko Drums, African Arts and Folklore, and Celtic Dancing.

In collaboration with this program, our Mini Museum volunteers create a commemorative piece of artwork. This community project includes participation by all students and can be seen on display in the school library and cafeteria.

Funding for our Artist In Residence programs is provided by grants from The Arizona Commission on the Arts, SRP, and support from MMES PTG.
