Mercury Mine Elementary School: Home of the Prospectors
'Mining the Promise of the Future'
Mercury Mine is a unique elementary school nestled between the peaks of Dreamy Draw Park, near U.S. 51, in a quiet, close-knit neighborhood community. Established in 1976, Mercury Mine has a stellar reputation of academic excellence, humanities, technology and leadership.
We are fortunate to have a dedicated and talented staff, outstanding students, parents, relatives and neighbors who have a long-standing tradition of positively collaborating on a daily basis to create an amazing learning community for our children, generation after generation. We are so proud of the caliber of our graduates, many of whom are National Merit-recognized students.
There are several unique features of our school, including gardens and a gymnasium with a rock wall. Students also enjoy a desert area complete with amphitheater, stage, ramada, desert walk, ruins and desert plants.
In the 2012-13 school year, we launched the Core Knowledge® academic curriculum. We teach to the state standards and individualize instruction for students through small groups, Accelerated Math, Accelerated Reader and pull-out programs for gifted and special education.
Our Parent-Teacher Group (PTG) sponsors various family activities and is integral in funding technology and other resources that contribute to our school environment.
Transportation is available to students who live at least one mile from school, or one-half mile for kindergarten students. Sahuaro, Paradise Valley School of Karate and Creative Center private day care centers provide transportation to and from MMES.
